Pulau Tikus, a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood on Penang Island, is home to Nona Bali Restaurant, which has served Balinese cuisine from a shophouse on Lintang Burma since it opened in August 2013. The restaurant was founded as a partnership between Peter Tait, a Penang native, and I Made Sudiarta, a chef originally from Bali, Indonesia, bringing together a Penangite's eye for the local dining scene and a Balinese cook's direct knowledge of the cuisine. The two have run the restaurant together for over a decade, building a following among both Penang locals and visiting Indonesian and Malaysian tourists drawn to Balinese dishes that are otherwise hard to find on the island.

The kitchen prepares dishes that food writers covering the restaurant describe as authentically Balinese, including bebek betutu style duck, sate lilit, nasi campur bali, and other dishes built around the layered spice pastes, or bumbu, characteristic of Balinese cooking. The restaurant has stated publicly that it uses halal ingredients throughout its kitchen and does not serve pork or alcohol, a choice that has broadened its customer base to include Muslim diners who might otherwise avoid Balinese food due to its frequent association with pork and rice wine. It should be noted that, as of the most recent available information, the restaurant has not been independently confirmed to hold a formal JAKIM halal certificate, even though it markets itself on halal ingredient sourcing.

Nona Bali Restaurant is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Thursday through Tuesday, closing only on Wednesdays. It offers dine-in, takeaway, delivery, and catering for private events, and can be reached by phone for table bookings.
