About PKBM PPI Taiwan

PKBM PPI Taiwan is a community learning center in Taipei that provides Indonesian-curriculum equivalency education to Indonesian migrant workers living in Taiwan. Operating under the legal foundation Yayasan Pendidikan PPI Taiwan, the center offers three levels of Kejar Paket equivalency programs: Paket A, equivalent to elementary school; Paket B, equivalent to junior high school; and Paket C, equivalent to senior high school, allowing students to earn a diploma recognized in Indonesia that can be used to pursue further education or apply for jobs after returning home.

The organization traces its roots to 2013, when a group connected to the Indonesian Students Association in Taiwan (Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia, or PPI Taiwan) began preparing a Kejar Paket C program with Indonesia's Ministry of Education and Culture; the first Paket C classes and student enrollment began that November. In June 2015 the effort was expanded to add Paket A and Paket B programs along with training and empowerment activities, and in July 2015 it was formally established under its current name, Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (Community Learning Center) PPI Taiwan. The Ministry of Education and Culture granted the school an official National School Identification Number (NPSN P9908880) in December 2015, giving its diplomas formal government recognition.

It works alongside Taiwan's Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (KDEI Taipei), which has facilitated graduation ceremonies for PKBM PPI Taiwan's students in past years.
